Case study: al fresco living all year round

BBQ Kitchens were asked to create a fully self-contained outdoor kitchen for a new pool house their clients were having built.

The brief for BBQ Kitchens was to fit a modern outdoor kitchen for a new oak-framed pool house structure. It was really important that the space had a proper, full working kitchen, so there was no need for the clients to head back into the main house.

The starting point was planning the layout. Although it was being built off-site, the dimensions were confirmed, so BBQ Kitchens knew what they had to play with and how it needed to look, in order to match the theme of the pool house itself.

As a family who enjoyed entertaining, it was important that there was enough room for a full-size dining table for 10 people, along with casual seating on loungers next to the pool. The clients also saw this outdoor kitchen as a real investment that will add value to their property. As such, it was important to look beyond this being ‘just an undercover barbecue’ and ensure that it was a real al fresco living experience that could be enjoyed nearly all year round. That’s why as well as the grill, a top-of-the-range pizza oven was also incorporated, as well as a freestanding firepit to keep cosy and toast marshmallows well into the evening.

The outdoor kitchen furniture is Fresco Pro, a brand that BBQ Kitchens is an expert in fitting. In fact, this was the first installation of the brand’s new range in the UK. The 4mm Dekton door cladding in Sirius black provided the perfect contrast to the oak of the pool house and dining table. The sink and the fridge were positioned on the poolside of the kitchen, perfect for quickly grabbing a cold drink to laze on a lounger. The all-important seven-burner grill, the Built-in Prestige PRO 665 by Napoleon, naturally took centre-stage.
