Italian appliance brand Smeg has released a limited-edition version of its FAB10 fridge to mark the 100th anniversary of the famous Le Mans 24-hour race.
The design of the new fridge features a sketch of the well-known Le Mans circuit map on its front, overlaid on top of a black finish in the brand’s signature retro-inspired style. Standing at 970mm tall and 545mm wide, the fridge also features two adjustable internal shelves and one shelf which covers the fruit and vegetable drawer as well as a small ice box. Products from the FAB10 range have an E-rated energy class and a noise level of just 37dB(A).
This is the latest in a series of similar, high-profile collaborations between Smeg and cultural icons including Dolce & Gabbana and Dsiney. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Peanuts brand earlier this year, Smeg released a limited edition FAB10 fridge, and last year released FAB10 and FAB28 products in Veuve Clicquot’s signature orange colour.
The first Le Mans 24-hour sports car race took place in France in 1923 and has been held annually ever since. This year’s race will be taking place between June 10 – June 11, and Smeg’s commemorative fridge was released earlier this month, so that fans could get their hands on the product before the weekend of the event.
