Howdens ramps up growth strategy with new Irish depot

Yorkshire-based trade kitchen giant Howdens’ rapid growth continues with the opening of its seventh depot in Ireland.

Located in Togher, Cork, the new depot is not only the company’s first in Cork but its first outside of Dublin. In a statement, the company revealed the new depot will be supported by the brand’s UK infrastructure and digital platform.

Speaking about the depot launch, Mark Campbell, country manager, Howdens, said: “We have ambition to open over 50 depots across Ireland, and this first depot outside of Dublin is an important part of our expansion within Ireland. There is an exceptional amount of interest and excitement from the trade, with builders and fitters already having set up accounts ready to trade as soon as we open our doors.

“What makes our business model so successful is the powerful combination of locally empowered depot management, and a dedicated supply chain that can deliver our Irish customers an always in-stock offer.”

The news comes less than two months after the kitchen giant opened its 800th UK depot in Rowley Regis in the West Midlands.
