Smeg appoints southern retail boss

Smeg UK has appointed Simon Starkie as head of retail, South. Starkie will develop new and existing business and oversee the southern regional sales operation. He will also be responsible for Smeg’s ongoing relationship with the CIH/Euronics buying group. He takes over the role from Matt Balm who has taken on Smeg’s head of national accounts role.

Starkie joins from Whirlpool where he worked for 11 years and was responsible for driving development of distribution and formerly national field sales. Prior to this, he held sales manager roles at Maytag and Sony.

Paul Barker, Smeg sales director, commented: “Simon brings with him a wealth of industry experience in retail, distribution and business to business sectors, and that combined with his passionate and energetic personality will ensure he’s a real asset to the team.

“We have exciting growth plans in place and Simon will play an instrumental part in driving this development across the South.”
