Q: What are the main challenges facing your sector and how are you tackling them?

A: There is no doubt that the cost-of-living crisis and inflation are proving a challenge for KBB retail businesses. A wider issue is an ageing population. Manufacturers will need to consider this in their future product development and focus on multi-generational products. The ‘grey’ market consumer wants a product that is suitable for them, their visitors and family, but not obviously aimed at an older customer.

Sustainability is on many consumers’ minds. However, when it comes to purchasing, the initial price versus the running costs must make sense. There is lots of confusion and misunderstanding around sustainability.

It is therefore crucial that manufacturers and retailers alike help consumers to understand the benefits of sustainable kitchens and bathrooms, both for the benefit of the household and for the future of the planet.
