Historic KBB business up for two national awards

The Bell of Northampton team collecting their Website of the Year trophy at the SME Northamptonshire awards earlier this year

Luxury KBB and interiors retailer Bell of Northampton has been announced as a finalist in two categories of this year’s SME National Business Awards.

Having already won the Website of the Year award at the SME Northamptonshire Awards in May of this year, the retailer is now a finalist in its national awards. Bell of Northampton is in the running to take home the trophy for both the Retail Business of the Year and Website of the Year categories.

Its place as a finalist is certainly well-deserved, as the business invested £14,000 to redevelop its website earlier this year. Working with ecommerce marketing agency Supplyant, Bell of Northampton turned its website into “an online shopping destination which gives customers all the inspiration they need to create their dream home”.

First founded in 1898, the business has traded from its store on Kingsthorpe Road for more than 125 years, and is said to have become a fixture of Northampton.

Lee Ferris, managing director at Bell of Northampton said the company was “incredibly proud” to have been announced as a finalist. He continued: “Having already won Website of the Year at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards earlier this year, it’s exciting to be in with a chance of winning this award at national level!

“Our customers really are the heart of our business so to be recognised for the work we do in ensuring that they receive the best products, service and advice when it comes to all things home and garden, really means the world to the team.

“We are very proud of our heritage and the fact that we continue to be at the forefront of innovating and adapting has been key to success, which has allowed us to still be in business, serving happy customers!”

The SME National Business Awards are established to celebrate small and medium enterprises, and is open to companies with 250 employees or fewer. This year’s award winners will be announced this December, where Bell of Northampton will find out whether it has taken home the trophy.

Bell of Northampton has also previously been a finalist in the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards. In 2017, the business was the subject of a retailer profile in kbbreview Magazine, where its former managing director explained how the business had been transformed from a traditional local KBB independent to a multichannel, luxury homewares specialist.
