Online bathroom retailer Plumbworld has recently passed £100m in annual sales, which it has co-incidentally managed to achieve during its 25th anniversary.
In its accounts for the year ending December 2023, Plumbworld reportedly grew by 15%, with its sales reaching almost £103M. It also achieved EDITDA profits of £9.6M.
The business was founded by CEO James Hickman back in 1999, long before the hallmarks of the digital world were established, such as iPhones, Facebook, YouTube and X/Twitter.
According to Plumbworld, at the time of its founding, there were doubts that the internet itself would actually catch on, especially in the retail sector.
Hickman said: “It is great to break through the £100m sales level for the first time and enter our 25th year of trading in such a strong position.
“The internet has changed a lot since 1999, but the core business principles of selling high quality products at affordable prices is as successful today as it was in the last millennium.”
Plumbworld employs 164 total staff across its two sites in Evesham, Worcestershire, and Barrowford in Lancashire.
Hickman sold Plumbworld to Grafton Group plc in 2006, but bought it back in a management buy-out in 2018. He then sold the company to its current owners, Highbourne Group, in 2022.
