Iconic British department store John Lewis has relaunched its fitted kitchen service after it was forced to put it on hold, following the demise of its key supplier, Mereway, earlier this year.

According to John Lewis it has been able to resurrect its kitchen offering after signing partnerships with manufacturers Symphony and Omega.

The kitchens are currently available to view online, with the service and displays set to return to its Oxford Street, Edinburgh, Cambridge and Bluewater stores this week, and to a further 25 department stores before the end of the year.

Speaking about the launch, Marissa Woodley, category lead for John Lewis Fitted Kitchens, said: “We’ve been selling fitted kitchens for over 70 years, so know what customers want – and bring all our skills and experience to every design we create. We are really excited to be working with our new suppliers to launch two new high-quality ranges, which offer something for everyone – from handcrafted traditional designs to sleek and modern finishes.

“Thanks to our brilliant relationship with our fitters, industry leading customer service, and improved design appointments, customers buying a John Lewis kitchen are sure to have a fantastic experience from start to finish. We can’t wait to see the results.”

The ranges, John Lewis Editions and John Lewis Elements, are said to offer customers a wide choice of styles and prices and are supported by a 10-year guarantee.

James Bishton, retail sales director at Omega commented: “Omega is excited to partner with John Lewis on their Fitted Kitchen Service. The Edition Collection provides an extensive selection of both contemporary and traditional options for John Lewis to create customers’ dream kitchens. The product choice, supported by Omega’s exceptional service proposition, is a perfect collaboration and is sure to meet John Lewis customers’ expectations and beyond.”

Speaking about its partnership with John Lewis, Simon Collyns, group marketing and retail sales director at Symphony said: “We previously worked with John Lewis about six years ago, so it’s brilliant to partner with them again. Our familiarity with their business and customer base allowed us to hit the ground running, and we’re really proud of the range. John Lewis’ customers are stylish and discerning, and we’re so excited to get to work.”

As part of the relaunch, John Lewis says it has also updated its back-end systems and is said to have become one of the first major retailers to move to CAD package Winner. It says it will also continue to work with ‘“’trusted suppliers’”’ including Blanco, Franke and Abode.
