Faith Furniture employee climbs Ben Nevis for charity

Kitchen furniture manufacturer Faith Furniture Company has seen one of its employees tackle Britain’s highest peak to raise money for charity.

In August, distribution driver Ian Wilkes, 61, challenged himself to reach the summit of Ben Nevis in Scotland for Hft – a national charity that provides services for people with learning disabilities throughout England.

Wilkes commented: “On August bank holiday, I commenced my hike up Ben Nevis with a guide and three other climbers. After a six-hour drive we set off at 08.15am up the mountain. Two hours later, we had our first rest of about 15 minutes at approximately halfway up. It was then starting to get tougher, but after about another two hours we reached the summit, just in time for a spot of lunch and to take in the spectacular views.

“This climb back down was much harder than I anticipated, but we finally reached the inn at the bottom after three hours for a very much welcomed drink and snack. I am proud to say that I raised around £140 for Hft.”
