Bathroom manufacturer Geberit says its sales grew by almost 5% in the first three months of 2025, despite the “very challenging environment” prevalent in the market.

In its Q1 results for 2025, Geberit Group’s net sales 878.5m CHF (approximately £795.5m), an increase of 4.9% over its year on year net sales of 837.2m CHF.

According to the company, this growth was driven by strong volume growth, primarily down to newly introduced products and “pull-forward effects at wholesalers” ahead of April price increases.

Looking at sales by region, Middle East/Africa sales increased by around 15%, European sales increased by 5%, and American sales increased by 4.5%. Meanwhile, Far East/Pacific sales were down by 0.8%, reportedly due to a declining Chinese market.

Pre-tax earnings at Geberit saw a slight increase (of 0.7%) – rising from 274.9m CHF in Q1 2024 to 276.9 CHF in 2025. Operating profits at Geberit remained relatively flat compared to the same period last year. They decreased 0.7%, down from 239.4m CHF last year to 237.7m CHF in 2025, year-on-year.

In its assessment of the rest of the year, Geberit says it believes the global economy will be exposed to significant uncertainties in 2025, as “geopolitical risks and the associated macroeconomic uncertainties have continued to grow”.

From a regional perspective, Geberit said: “While Europe is confronted with muted growth prospects, the additional US tariffs that have been announced could have a negative impact on economic development in the USA and on the global economy. In particular, the central banks’ forecasted interest rate cuts could come under pressure due to inflation fears.”

In a more positive assessment, Geberit says it expects demand in the building construction industry to stabilise over the course of 2025, following its sharp declines since mid-2022.

In other news, last month Geberit UK managing director, Mark Larden, announced his plans to retire later this year. He also named current national sales director for projects, Andy Lever, as his successor.
