After discussing plans to relaunch MFI earlier this year, Victorian Plumbing has now officially revived the retail brand in the form of an online store, which is now live.
Back in May, Victorian Plumbing announced its intention to revive the MFI brand, which it acquired after its takeover of rival Victoria Plum last year. Founded in 1964, the MFI kitchen and bedroom furniture brand was bought by now-shuttered Victoria Plum back in 2011, although it eventually ceased trading in 2015. Although MFI bedroom furniture was quietly relaunched online by Victoria Plum in 2016, there had been little activity from the brand ever since.
At the height of its prominence, MFI – which is short for Mullard Furniture Industries – was regarded as one of the UK’s leading furniture retailers, and had more than 200 UK stores.
Now as an online-only retailer, MFI’s new website offers a wide assortment of products, including furnishings for hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms.
Currently, the website’s bedroom offering includes bedding and cushions, but also freestanding wardrobes and chests of drawers. On the bathroom side, MFI is offering towels and bath mats, as well as mirrors.
When Victorian Plumbing announced its plans to revive MFI earlier this year, kbbreview learned that the retailer’s proposed “homewares” offering was limited to furniture items like bedroom tables and dining sets, not full fitted kitchens or bathrooms at this stage.
Following the launch, a spokesperson for MFI told kbbreview: “Following Victorian Plumbing Group’s announcement on 14 May 2025, we are excited to have now launched MFI, our fresh and modern take on a familiar name from British retail heritage. Exclusively online, we are offering an initial range of 600 carefully curated furniture and homeware pieces, as part of a soft launch phase. We are making good progress attracting visitors to site organically and, as trading progresses, we will grow and broaden the product range – and look forward to welcoming more customers back to this much loved, reimagined brand.”
