Maurice Lay loses ‘much loved’ member of the team

Maurice Lay Distributors’ longest-serving employee, Rod Rose, has died suddenly, aged 71.

Rose chose to work past retirement age until his sudden death on December 15. He spent 36 years at the company, joining on February 4, 1980, as transport manager and becoming an HGV driver in 1995.

Maurice Lay Distributors described Rose as a popular and valued member of the team. He was also a keen gardener, who loved to travel and recount tales from his numerous trips.

Rose lost his wife, Pam, several years ago and is survived by three daughters, Caroline, Julie and Paula, and two granddaughters.

His funeral took place on January 19 and Maurice Lay Distributors will be making a donation in his memory to the doctor’s surgery where Rose and his family received care and support.

Chairman Maurice Lay said: “Rod was a much-loved member of the team who dedicated most of his career to Maurice Lay Distributors. He will be greatly missed by all his many friends and colleagues.”
