Masco sales dip 3% amid challenging market, but CEO says focus remains on “long-term success”

Masco Corporation has reported a 3% drop in net sales for the third quarter of 2025, as softer market conditions and divestitures weighed on performance across its home improvement and building products portfolio.

The Michigan-based group – whose brands include Hansgrohe and Bristan – posted sales of $1.92 billion (£1.45bn) for the period, down from $1.98bn (£1.50bn) a year earlier. Excluding divestitures and on a local currency basis, sales were down 2%.

Plumbing Products was a relative bright spot, with net sales up 2% (1% in local currency), while Decorative Architectural Products fell 12% – or 6% in local currency and excluding divestitures.

Operating profit dropped 15% to $303 million (£229m), and the operating margin fell 220 basis points to 15.8%. On an adjusted basis, operating profit was $312m (£236m) with a margin of 16.3%, down 190 basis points year on year.

Gross margin declined from 36.6% to 34.2%, and adjusted earnings per share decreased 10% to $0.97. Reported earnings per share were $0.90, up from $0.77 in the prior-year quarter.

Masco continued its share buyback programme, repurchasing 1.8 million shares for $124 million (£94m).

“During the third quarter, we continued to navigate through a dynamic geopolitical and macroeconomic environment. While the near-term market conditions remained a headwind to our business, our teams continued to focus on execution to grow share and drive long-term success,” said Masco president and CEO, Jon Nudi.

“We delivered adjusted operating profit of $312 million and adjusted earnings per share of $0.97 during the quarter. Additionally, our capital allocation strategy enabled us to return $188 million to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases.

“We remain committed to leveraging the strength of our industry leading brands, innovative product portfolio, and unmatched customer service, and we believe Masco is well positioned to continue to deliver long-term shareholder value.”
