Ceramique Internationale follows Fired Earth into administration

A group of UK tile companies, including the well-known brand Ceramique Internationale, has entered administration, with dozens of jobs lost.

The four tile businesses – Ceramique Internationale, Rowmarl Ltd, Spectrum Tiles and Euxton Tile Supplies – are all owned by the Full Circle Group and Earle Group, which appointed administrators on October 27.

Joint administrators Matthew Haw and Christopher Ratten from RSM UK Restructuring Advisory sold the assets of the brands to two recently established companies, Euxton Tiles Ltd and Ralee Group Ltd, on October 31.

According to reports, all operations were ceased and staff were made redundant on October 24, shortly before the administrators were brought in. 59 employees have been made redundant, with the majority of staff said to have been employed at the Euxton site.

Ceramique Internationale was founded in 1974, and was well known in the KBB sector for sourcing Italian and Spanish tiles. Euxton Tile Supplies is the oldest of the group of businesses that have entered administration, which was established in 1950.

The administrators have confirmed that the companies had encountered serious financial difficulties and were unable to pay their ongoing obligations, despite the best efforts of directors.

This news comes just days after UK-based tile brand Fired Earth was also plunged into administration. All of Fired Earth’s stores are reportedly closing, along with 133 members of staff being made redundant as administrators work to secure the sale of the business’ assets.
