Triton wins infringement appeal against Kohler Mira

Triton Showers has successfully appealed against the patent infringement case previously won by Kohler Mira, and says it will continue to sell its DuElec electric showers in the UK and Ireland as a result.

In 2024, Mira argued that Triton’s DuElec range of showers infringed on the patent used in its dual outlet electric shower, which Triton denied, with the judge ruling in favour of Mira.

However, the Court of Appeal has now overturned the previous case’s findings of both validity and infringement of the patent in question, in a judgement dated December 22, 2025.

“Over recent years, we have been working towards resolving a legal dispute concerning the DuElecelectric shower,” commented Phil Viner, managing director at Triton Showers. “During this time, our legal team has vigorously defended Triton’s position, and the Court of Appeal has now ruled in Triton’s favour.

“We are therefore pleased to confirm that Triton will continue to sell its highly successful range of DuElecelectric showers in the UK and Ireland, as it has done since the product was launched in May 2022. We would like to extend our thanks to the Shakespeare Martineau legal team for helping us to secure this comprehensive outcome.”

“We would also like to thank our valued customers for their support during this period and look forward to building further plans to optimise our range with them.”

Nicholas Briggs, head of intellectual property at law firm Shakespeare Martineau, also added: “This is a great result for our client. Their determination to pursue the appeal for what both they and we thought all along was the right result has been fully justified.”

Following the ruling, Emma Foster, managing director at Kohler Mira said: “We are disappointed with the Court of Appeal’s decision, which reverses the initial ruling. However, the decision does not change Mira’s commitment to vigorously protecting our intellectual property and the significant investment we make in research and development in the UK.”
