Samsung Electronics has appointed Dan Harvie as VP of its newly created Home Entertainment and Appliances (HEA) division in the UK, with Zeena Hill also appointed as its director of marketing.
The new division has been created to unite its previously named TV/AV team and domestic appliances team. Samsung says the new division will be able to more effectively showcase its wider product portfolio, particularly through SmartThings, its home connectivity app. The appliance giant also says the creation of the new division will allow it to work more effectively with partners and retailers to bring one consistent brand to the consumer.
The division’s new leader, Dan Harvie, previously served as the VP of the TV/AV division will play a pivitol role in guiding its vision and strategy. He has more than 10 years of experience at the company, having originally begun as director of domestic appliances for Europe, before becoming vice president in 2016.
Meanwhile, new director of marketing Zeena Hill previously led the brand and marketing as part of Harvie’s TV/AV team. She joined Samsung in 2022, and has worked in appliances and home entertainment for more than 20 years. During her time at Samsung, she has already been responsible for several impressive partnerships, including the NFL and becoming the first-ever official screen partner for BAFTA.
Discussing his new appointment on LinkedIn, Harvie said he was “excited and humbled in equal measure, having been given the opportunity to lead the next chapter of Samsung’s incredible journey in the UK and Ireland.
“Bringing together Home Appliances and TV/AV under a newly created ‘Home Entertainment and Appliance’ business unit is a future facing move for the company and gives us the opportunity to accelerate innovation and create even better, more seamless experiences and solutions for consumers across all product ranges. “Having started my career in Home Appliances (…a few years ago now…) it’s great to be back working in a sector close to my heart whilst still be able to enjoy the extraordinary pace of innovation, design and tech revolution in TV and AV.”
