Spanish bathroom specialist Roca has claimed that the mid-market is still not ready for smart-home bathroom solutions.
According to corporate marketing director, Carlos Velázquez (pictured), despite being aware of the growing trend for smart-home technology in the bathroom, Roca will not enter the category until there is genuine demand for those innovations from the mid-market.
Speaking exclusively to kbbreview at the ISH fair in Frankfurt, Velázquez said: “One of our core values is innovation, grounded innovation. We won’t launch products that the market isn’t ready for just to make a brand statement. This is how we’ve built a brand that’s lasted 100 years.
“We recognise the growth in Internet of Things (IOT) and smart-home technology and of course we need to be, and will be, ready for when that sector of the market becomes stronger. We are working on several projects, but we won’t launch anything that’s not commercially viable because it wouldn’t fit within our DNA.”
