Following its acquisition by Topps Group last year, Ceramic Tile Distributors (CTD) has revealed plans to move its warehouses from Birmingham to a new state-of-the-art facility in Milton Keynes.
On track to open this month, CTD’s new site will be a 65,000 sq ft space at Northampton Prologis Park in Pineham. According to the company, the new facility is designed to support its retail trade centres, as well as housebuilders and architectural sales sectors.
The company says the move “marks a new chapter” for the company, and will also enhance its operational efficiency, create space for future growth, and strengthen its position in the industry.
CTD also says customers will also see the benefits from the new space, with improved transport links, tailored warehouse facilities, increased racking capacity, and modern office spaces.
Brian Linnington, CTD’s general manager commented: “The team at CTD is very pleased to be taking the next step in our journey by opening a new, larger, and more efficient warehouse. This will help us build the business and more effectively support our customers, ensuring excellent service is at the heart of everything we do.”
Last August, CTD was rescued from administration for £9m by Topps Group, the parent company of Topps Tiles. The rescue deal included the brand, its assets, and 30 CTD stores.
Following the acquisition, Topps’ largest shareholder criticised the deal as “irrational” and “detrimental” to the business. However, Topps defended the CTD acquisition as being “strategically compelling” for its overall business.
