Machinery and equipment left over from Hotpoint’s recently closed Bristol manufacturing facility have gone up for auction, with those interested in acquiring the specialist equipment being urged to act fast.
From now until 11 am on March 5, interested buyers can bid on the remaining production lines and machinery, which is being sold off by NCM Auctions.
According to the auctioneers, bidding lots include a wide range of equipment and ancillaries used at the tumble dryer manufacturing site. This includes lots such as metalworking lathes and milling machines to precision measuring equipment, foil shrink wrapping lines, high-speed labellers, commercial catering equipment and much more.
There are a total of 286 lots up for auction. Along with the specialist equipment, furniture and recreation items, such as a pool table and vending machines, are also available for bidding.
The Hotpoint site officially closed on December 31, 2024, which sadly meant that more than 140 members of staff lost their jobs.
The facility was originally established during World War 1 as an aircraft production and repair plant for Parnell, before eventually going on to become a manufacturing site for the appliance brand’s tumble dryer products.
The possibility of the closure was first reported back in July 2024. At the time, Hotpoint’s parent company, Beko Europe, said it was considering closing the plant as it was “not technically or economically feasible to remodel the Yate site to continue operations” to meet new proposed legislation about heat pump products. In addition, Beko said it believed tumble dryer appliances have become less popular with consumers in the UK and Ireland in recent years, who were more interested in heat pump models.
“This auction from Hotpoint UK, part of Beko Group, reinforces our expertise in repurposing industrial equipment from large manufacturing sites and factories,” commented Amy Rutherford, partnership lead at NCM.
“Our proven approach and commitment to sustainability ensures that these surplus manufacturing assets are reintegrated into the circular economy and diverted from landfill.
“Given the Yate facility’s substantial scale, this catalogue offers an extensive range of manufacturing equipment and related assets that can be used across many different industries and manufacturing processes. I’d encourage any interested bidders to register for the auction and arrange a viewing with our team.”
