The recently renamed British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists (BIFIS) registered a record number of installation businesses in September, marking the single biggest monthly intake in the organisation’s history.
BIFIS says it welcomed 86 new independent installation businesses to its ranks last month, representing a total of 121 individual installers – the group’s biggest single-month intake across its almost 20-year history.
“We celebrate continued growth in 2025 in, what has been, an incredible year for the organisation so far,” commented Damian Walters, CEO of BIFIS.
“Whilst the skills gap largely remains an unchanged challenge for us all, it is clear that professional installers are choosing BIFIS as a powerful tool for their business and perhaps this is a sign that these businesses are needing a credible way to separate themselves from ‘the others’.”
Until just last week, BIFIS was known as BIKBBI, which stood for The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation. The organisation says its recent name change marks reflects a new broadened role within the fitted interiors sector.
Having expanded its focus from simply KBB installers, BIFIS now works with a cross section of businesses from across the fitted interiors sector, from professional installers, to retailer partners and corporate advocates.
