The Unified Water Label Association (UWLA) has formally appointed Lee Cartwright as its new managing director, succeeding current head Yvonne Orgill upon her retirement at the end of this month.

Cartwright officially joined the association at the start of this week. As one of his first appearances in the role, he has said he plans to travel to the ISH trade show in Frankfurt with Orgill, where he will meet with members and supporters.

As part of the UWLA’s presence at the show, Cartwright also plans to speak at the association’s scheduled press event, which will take place on March 18.

Cartwright joins the UWLA from a role as technical director of Closomat, a specialist UK-based manufacturer of accessible Wash and Dry toilets.

“I am thrilled about this new role and looking forward to building on Yvonne’s legacy,” Cartwright commented. “During her time in the industry Yvonne has become well recognised as a strong leader and influencer, and I am passionate about driving forward continued growth and future success for the organisation.

“Over the next month, I’ll be working closely with Yvonne to ensure a smooth transition and to gain deeper insights into the role.”

Orgill first announced her plans to step down from the UWLA in September 2024. Following her retirement from the association, she will go on to become the new president of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineers (CIPHE). She has led the UWLA since its formation in 2020. A prominent figure in the KBB sector, she also previously held the position of chief executive of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) between 2006 and 2019.

Discussing Cartwright’s appointment as her successor, Orgill said: “I am delighted to welcome Lee into the UWLA and wish him every success. I know that under his leadership the UWLA will benefit from new opportunities and an exciting next chapter.”
