About the role

Working collaboratively with the Group Board and members of the Senior Management Team, the Commercial Director has responsibility for helping identify future growth opportunities, managing and mitigating risk across our commercial contracts, managing our showroom and office leases, highlighting and evaluating opportunities for internal cost efficiencies and overseeing our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) activities.

The position will currently have two direct reports; our internal Legal Advisor and a new Sustainability Lead. The Commercial Director will be responsible for the management, reporting and tracking of our ESG activities considering customer and stakeholder requirements, industry best practice and wider global indicators or sustainability initiatives. While working closely with the Marketing department to develop new ESG reporting and presentational materials.

Where the opportunity arises, the Commercial Director will also play an important role in targeting and evaluating potential strategic acquisitions, including but not limited to, managing an acquisition pipeline, commercial and legal due diligence, and oversight of the acquisitions process.

In conjunction with the wider Senior Management Team, review and identify opportunities for cost saving with our indirect procurement activities (Goods Not For Resale), and make recommendations where applicable to leverage our scale to drive greater cost efficiency.

About you

The candidate for the role will have experience at a senior level in an equivalent position, prior experience of commercial and market understanding of the UAE (and wider region) would be advantageous. You have a demonstrable track record of impressive results, being hands on, entrepreneurial and with ambition for continued career development.

You will have a blend of commercial awareness, analytical and creative thinking, partnered with a strategic mindset. A deep understanding of business operations, finances, sales, legal and market conditions. Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentational skills to work collaboratively with key shareholders, both within the business and externally.

You have direct experience of M & A activity and commercial due diligence requirements. A solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and leadership abilities. Proven experience of managing leases agreements in the Middle East and current or prior operational or P/L experience is advantageous.
