Five ways you are making the world a better place

Bathroom Manufacturers Association Chief Executive, Tom Reynolds, reveals why it’s backing the industry’s ‘green’ thinkers with the launch of its inaugural Sustainability Awards

The Bathroom Manufacturers Association is an organisation that promotes sustainability in everything we do, and in every part of the bathroom sector. The reason it has become part of our DNA is wholly down to our members, the manufacturers who are creating the next generation of bathroom products set to transform all our homes, both in this country and beyond.

It is for that reason we have created the first awards scheme for our members, to recognise and reward the efforts across the sector and to become a vanguard for change. Here is your chance to showcase your work and achievements, large or small. If you are helping improve sustainability in your business, we want to hear from you.

Entrants can showcase their project, team, and company, helping to raise the bar of achievement across the sector.
There are five categories: Carbon Reduction, Water Efficiency, Circular Economy, Workplace Initiative and Sustainability Champion.

Thankfully, in the very first year of launching the Sustainability Awards, despite the challenging times for events, we have been overwhelmed by the support from the industry. Well-respected experts and specialists in their field have jumped at the chance to be involved and back the idea.

For each of the five awards we have assembled an independent panel of judges, made up of three high profile pros. And I’m proud to say Andrew Davies, managing editor, kbbreview, is one of those who has volunteered his expertise. He will be on the judging panel for the Sustainability Champion Award.

Davies said: “It’s time to applaud those people in the sector who are making an impact and embracing change and I’m honoured to be a part of the judging process.

“No one is too small to make a difference, and this award will honour individuals who are going above and beyond to improve the sustainability of the companies they work for.

“This is a chance to recognise people at any level who have worked hard at implementing a sustainability project or initiative, and whose involvement has made a positive impact be that on their peers, their community or their company.”

At the BMA, we know change is happening now, so we are eager to support all our wonderful members through this, by creating initiatives like these awards and our sustainability forum. It’s an appreciation of the actions being taken to walk the walk rather than just talk the talk, that is the only way we can we truly create a more sustainable sector. The free-to-enter awards are open now, and the deadline is 5pm August 27, 2021.

Any BMA member can submit as many entries as they wish in any or all of the categories. For the Sustainability Champion, which is the only individual award, entries can be a personal or nominated, giving you the chance to enter a colleague who you know deserves recognition.

Each entry involves a simple explanation of your sustainability improvement, with a 400-word limit, along with a short supporting video which can be self-shot phone footage.

Entry forms and more information are available here.
