PJH staff in 21,000 mile global challenge to raise £5,000 for NHS charities

Staff at PJH raised £5,000 for NHS Charities Together after completing a Wellbeing Team Challenge that sent them off around the globe.

The Wellbeing Team Challenge, organised by the Bolton-based bathroom products distributor, tasked its employees with travelling the world together, by any self-powered means of transport – walking, cycling, running, swimming, kayaking.

They covered 21,020 miles visiting some of PJH parent company Globe Union’s many sites around the world, including Mexico, Montreal, Shenzhen in China and Taiwan.

The challenge ran throughout the summer and was intended to promote well-being within the company. Employees shared photographs throughout the event, which PJH said not only highlighted their progress, but also “brought a well-needed social aspect to the challenge and a real team feeling”.

All in all, 126 PJH staff took part and covered 21,020 miles, clocking up an average of 350 miles a day from 4,093 activities.

Commenting on the challenge, PJH chief executive Richard George said: “Good mental and physical health is extremely important, and the Wellbeing Team Challenge was designed to bring everyone that bit closer together and promote activities that foster a sense of well-being. The success of this challenge proves just how close we are as a team, and the accompanying £5,000 raised for NHS Charities Together is a vote of thanks from us all for the incredible work by the NHS throughout this pandemic.”
