The parent company of kitchen manufacturer PWS, Danesmoor Group, has chosen Dementia UK as its charity for 2023.
In 2022, the company raised over £11,000 the charity while doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
Future challenges include an Italian coast-to-coast cycle challenge that aims to raise £120,000 to support more specialist dementia nurses in the UK.
The ride will take place in May where eight riders will take on a gruelling six-day mission through the rolling Tuscan hills from Rimini to Pisa. Danesmoor is currently finding the eight riders in the company who are willing to take on the challenge.
Mark Stephenson, CEO of Danesmoor Group, said: “The last few years have seen the UK go through some of the most challenging and unforeseen economic turbulence, affecting everyone, especially charities. That’s why I wanted to do something to raise vital funds for Dementia UK, a charity that provides specialist support and advice to families who are affected by dementia whilst providing eight riders with an unforgettable opportunity.
“Over one million people across the UK are expected to be living with dementia by 2025. But while this heart-breaking condition has no cure, support is available through Dementia UK’s specialist Admiral Nurses, who work directly with families affected by all forms of dementia, every single day of the week.”
In 2016, Stephenson raised £314,000 for Help for Heroes during a 500km cycle across South Africa. The money raised went towards funding for three additional psychological wellbeing advisors, helping wounded, injured and sick service personnel, veterans and their families.
