Created using expertise from ocean conservation organisation Ocean Wise, Samsung is launching a new external washing machine filter which it says significantly reduces plastic microfiber emissions during laundry cycles.
The filter is a follow-up to last year’s Less Microfiber Cycle wash course, which made use of bubbles to help dissolve and absorb detergent to reduce microplastic shedding. Samsung says that the new filter technology will prevent up to 98% of microplastics released during laundry cycles from reaching the ocean.
The Less Microfiber Filter can be implemented in a mountable design style, allowing consumers to use it with standard washing machine models, and is available in the UK now.
