Sanitaryware and fittings giant Ideal Standard International has announced that joint CEO and president of the sanitaryware segment Jonas Nilsson will leave the company on June 30.
Jan Peter Tewes (pictured), who is currently joint CEO and president of the fittings segment, will become the company’s sole chief executive as of July 1.
Nilsson joined Ideal Standard International in 2019 as chief operating officer and was appointed joint CEO in 2021 alongside Jan Peter Tewes. They replaced previous CEO Torsten Tuerling.
Tewes joined the company in 2018 as chief commercial officer and before that was executive vice-president, building (Europe) at Uponor, and a member of the group’s executive committee. He also spent 10 years at Grohe in a variety of roles, including chief marketing officer and a member of Grohe’s global management team.
In a statement, Ideal Standard said that the board acknowledged Nilsson’s “significant contributions” to the company, having led the successful reconfiguration of its manufacturing footprint and streamlining its logistics networks. “Under his leadership,” it said, “our operations functions have significantly improved across all areas and continue to target higher levels of quality, cost efficiency and supply chain optimisation.”
The board congratulated Tewes on his new role as sole CEO, saying: “Tewes is ideally placed to lead Ideal Standard in its further development, building on the leadership and vision he has already shown.”
Earlier this year, Dave Barber retired as Ideal Standard UK and Ireland managing director after 20 years’ service. He was succeeded by Lisa Whitfield, who joined the company from Interface, the worldwide commercial flooring company.
Barber held a number of finance leadership positions, including finance director over his 20 years’ service with Ideal Standard. He assumed the MD role in April 2020 from Stephen Ewer, who himself took it over from Jim Moore. Before that, Barber had stepped in as interim managing director after the departure of previous MD Keith Boad. Barber was the fifth person to have held the MD role at Ideal Standard since 2010.
