Last year it was Viva Magenta, it was Very Peri periwinkle blue in 2021, and this year Pantone has just announced its 25th anniversary Colour of the Year is Peach Fuzz.

For this quarter-century milestone colour Pantone is collaborating with fabrics specialist Ultrafabrics to show how colour can “transform environments and encourage personal connections”.

Pantone 13-0123 Peach Fuzz is described as a “warm, tactile peach colour, nestled between pink and orange”. The colour was arrived at after a careful selection process in collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute, drawing inspiration from new colour influences and trends from industries as diverse as fashion, art and home furnishings.

Ultrafabrics, which also celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, creates hi-tech materials for indoor and outdoor use in applications such as furniture, cars and aircraft. For the Pantone Colour of the Year 2024, it worked with the WeWantMore Studio in Belgium to develop visual concepts to showcase the design possibilities the new hue offers (see picture).

Pantone vice-president and general manager Elley Cheng said: “The Pantone Color of the Year 2024 in its essence fosters community and collaboration. We are excited to continue our work with industry leader Ultrafabrics to explore the application of the Pantone Color of the Year 2024 in the interior design world and beyond.”

Commenting on behalf of Ultrafabrics, director of branding Nicole Meier said: “As Ultrafabrics celebrates its quarter century as a successful business, we are thrilled to be working with Pantone for the Pantone Color of the Year 2024 as the expert in the interior environment. Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is everything that our fabric is about: haptics, warmth, and comfort. This colour, and its meaning, could not be more perfect for us this year.”
