Haier Europe has named its new chief executive, with Haier UK managing director Neil Tunstall set to step into the role.
The announcement follows news earlier this week that Haier Europe’s current CEO, Yannick Fierling, will be stepping down at the end of April.
Tunstall first joined Haier back in September. He worked previously at Jacuzzi as president for the EMEA, Asia and Australasia regions, as well as previously holding roles at both Whirlpool EMEA and Indesit Company.
He will start as Haier Europe CEO at the beginning of April. The new role will see him taking leadership of the European market region, which has approximately 10,000 Haier employees.
Following his appointment, Haier says that Tunstall will also be responsible for promoting long-term value creation for its customers across Europe. According to the company, one of its goals going forward is to position itself as the undisputed consumer choice for smart-home solutions.
Haier says that Tunstall is: “An internationally experienced business leader with a strong marketing and commercial background and a proven track record of success across complex consumer business driven by technological innovation.”
According to Tunstall, he is “delighted” to have been appointed to lead Haier Europe. He said: “It is a business with an impressive manufacturing footprint, a strong brand portfolio, a talented team and an enviable reputation as a leader in the major appliances industry.
“I am convinced by the strength of Haier Europe’s fundamentals and its potential, and I look forward to building on the great work already in place. I will be very focused on working with the central Haier Europe team and the markets to remain at the forefront of innovation in public technology and scenario-based solutions, as we serve millions of people around the world who use our products every day.”
Haier added that Tunstall will retain his current responsibilities until a successor has been appointed.
