German manufacturer Häcker Kitchens has seen a significant drop in its year-on-year turnover figures, despite its export share remaining relatively stable.
The kitchen company reported closing the 2023 financial year with a total sales turnover of €726 million (£621 Million), which is a decrease of more than 8% compared to the previous year’s figure of €786 million (£693m).
However, Häcker Kitchens says its export share has remained at 40% – exactly the same figure as reported in the previous financial year.
The company also says it is continuing to strengthen its international trade presence. This has been achieved by taking on an expert in the Chinese market, and also with the opening of a new North American headquarters in Miami.
Despite seeing a reduced turnover in 2023, Häcker Kitchens says it is looking to the 2024 financial year “with confidence”.
Specifically, the company is expecting EuroCucina in April and the in-house exhibition in September, to be highlights for the year. According to Häcker, it plans to debut new additions to its “systemat” collection at the in-house exhibition, in order to keep up with consumer demand.
Last year, Jamie Schneider, Hacker UK MD, urged the industry to prepare for a turbulent 18 months. During a visit to the company’s London showroom in May 2023, Schneider told kbbreview that the mid-upper sector of the kitchen market should expect the next 18 months to two years to be challenging and urged retailers to be open to change in order to survive this difficult period.
