Renowned kitchen designer Johnny Grey has officially launched his new Unfitted Kitchen range, with a launch party held at Kitchens Etc, in Norfolk.
Grey officially cut the ribbon in the Kitchens Etc showroom on May 23, formally declaring the Unfitted Kitchen display open.
The newly-launched Unfitted Kitchen is a range of freestanding kitchen furniture, based on Grey’s concept originally pioneered for Smallbone in the 1980s. The kitchen features hand-crafted, function-led furniture, which is said to offer both flexibility and a sense of charm.
In his own words, Grey described the concept as “a kitchen like no other”, and that the Unfitted Kitchen “feels like the beginning of a new chapter in kitchen design”.
The display model in the Kitchens Etc showroom is said to feature an invisible induction cooktop, a Roroshetta ‘Silent’ Luna Sense Island extractor in copper, a Quooker boiling water tap also in copper, a Fisher & Paykel integrated dishwasher and a Liebherr built-in fridge.
The launch event was attended by architects, designers, developers and the showroom’s retail clients, all of whom were entertained by harpist Zoe Anderton.
According to Natalie Peters, designer and managing director of Kitchens Etc, she has been passionate about the unfitted kitchen since first discussing the concept with Grey in 2022, and committed “then and there to be the first UK curators”.
She continued: “We just absolutely loved the concept and totally got it. It is new, exciting and beautifully compliments our own bespoke handmade furniture, which has been heavily influenced by Johnny.
“Both our front window displays have been devoted to the Unfitted Kitchen and footfall has increased as a result. We feel this really has elevated our studio to the next level!”
Kbbreview recently spoke with Grey about his upcoming unfitted kitchen launch in the December 2023 issue of kbbreview magazine. At the time, he said his plan was to have around 10 unfitted kitchen dealers in the UK.
