Just two months after it selected Yorkshire Air Ambulance as its charity of the year, kitchen manufacturer Moores says it has already managed to raise over £1,300 for the organisation.
The Moores team has rallied around events such as “Wear it Yellow Day”, where staff were encouraged to dress up in yellow outfits for charity, and an “eco-drive”, where Moores staff donated preloved items to charity.
Most recently, Moores’ service delivery manager Derick Tillett personally held an event which he called “The Tour de Appleton’s”. The fundraising venture saw him cycle a total of 45 miles between the four branches of Appleton’s Pie Shops, which are located in Ripon, Boroughbridge, Knaresborough and Wetherby.
Originally hoping to raise at least £500 through the fundraising event, Tillett received over £1,100 in donations from sponsors. As a result, he has said he hopes to make the cycle ride an annual fundraising event.
Looking to the future, Moores says it is currently gathering a team to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in September. In addition, the manufacturer also plans to hold many more fundraising activities, one of which is currently planned to be a “Big Yorkshire Day Raffle”.
In June of this year, Moores said that Yorkshire Air Ambulance was selected as its charity of the year following a company-wide vote. The charity was said to be the clear favourite with staff, as many members of the Moores team have witnessed its lifesaving work first-hand.
The charity provides rapid healthcare response to people across Yorkshire, with the charity operating two helicopters that reportedly cost over £19,000 a day to run.
