Hull-based doors and cabinets manufacturer, Summerbridge, has stepped up its commitment to the environment with its latest initiative.
The brand has invested in a biomass boiler that will enable it to convert waste timber into consumable fuel that it can then use to heat its factory. The new system, also decreases Summerbridge’s dependence on traditional fossil fuels, cutting its C02 emissions
Beyond its environmental impact, this shift to biomass energy has also generated significant cost savings. According to Summerbridge the new system enables it to leverage cost-effective renewable energy, leading to significantly lower outgoings. This, it says, will allow it to reinvest in further innovation and sustainable practices.
Speaking about the move towards more environmentally-friendly processes, Andrew Tsirtsikos, key accounts manager at Summerbridge said: ” At Summerbridge sustainability is more than just a trend — it’s a core business principle. The installation of our biomass boiler is a concrete step toward reducing our carbon footprint, and it sends a clear message to our customers and partners that environmental responsibility goes hand in hand with producing high-quality products.”
Summerbridge will, it says, continue to explore additional measures to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, source materials responsible and, set standards for the manufacturing industry.
“Summerbridge is committed to contributing to a sustainable future,” added Tsirtsikos. “This latest initiative is just one of many steps we are taking to minimise
our environmental impact, and we remain committed to seeking new ways to further this mission.”
