Distributor PJH has said it is ‘incredibly pleased’ with the current progress on its new distribution centre in Wolverhampton, and has confirmed that it plans to open the site before the end of 2024.
PJH believes the new distribution centre will significantly increase its stock availability, as well as further improve on its next-day delivery service. The distribution centre is located roughly eight miles from the distributor’s current site in Cannock, and will replace that facility once it has opened.
According to PJH, the flagship Wolverhampton facility measures at 205,000 sq ft, which almost doubles the size of its existing site, which will go a long way to supporting its ambitious plans for future growth.
In addition to storage space, the distribution centre plans also include 15,500 sq ft of office facility space, to support its workforce as they transfer from Cannock.
Another standout feature is its purpose-built showroom, which is designed to showcase its extensive product portfolio to customers.
Providing an update on the construction process, PJH has said that the site’s steel structures are now in places, and installation of the new warehouse & transport hub is officially underway.
The company also added that the centre’s warehouse racking solution has officially been finalised, and PJH’s BREEAM excellent sustainable build application was also ongoing.
Richard George, chief executive of PJH, said: “We are incredibly pleased with the progress at our new Wolverhampton Distribution Centre and the countdown is now on for opening later this year. This facility is a testament to PJH’s commitment to growth and operational excellence.
“It will be a flagship site designed to support our ambitious plans and provide unparalleled service to our customers. Staying local allows us to retain our talented workforce, who are fundamental to our success, and we are delighted to see our vision taking shape.
“We are on track to ‘go live’ by the end of 2024 and eagerly anticipate the operational enhancements this facility will bring.”
Earlier this year, PJH also announced it had invested further in its customer service capabilities, and added more than 30 new vehicles to its 130-strong delivery fleet. The distributor has also seen a number of new senior appointments this year, having taken on both a new product manager and marketing campaign manager in the last few months.
