Showroom of the month: Diss Ironworks, Norfolk
A family-run business that’s been operating for over 50 years, Norfolk’s Diss Ironworks has reopened its doors after a major transformation to reveal a redesigned showroom space.
Tucked away in the market town of Diss, this 5,500 sq ft showroom has been completely reimagined by owners Hannah and Matt Hyde.
What was once a well-regarded local appliance specialist has now been relaunched as a flagship destination designed to appeal to a broader audience of architects, kitchen designers and high-end homeowners.
This is no mere facelift. A £500,000 investment has resulted in an immersive retail space that blends contemporary design with purposeful layout planning.
From dedicated presentation zones to fully functioning demonstration kitchens, the space has been carefully curated to encourage exploration and spark creativity.
The remodel introduces a variety of room sets and environments, including a large outdoor kitchen area with full commercial-grade extraction – allowing for indoor cooking demonstrations all year round.
A highlight for visitors is a sleek new design studio, aimed at fostering collaboration between specifiers, clients and the in-house team. “This is about future-proofing the showroom and giving our customers something truly exceptional,” said co-owner Hannah Hyde. “We’re proud to remain rooted in our history while evolving to reflect the very best of modern kitchen living. It’s an immersive, design-led space created to spark imagination and celebrate innovation.”
The showroom houses a large selection of range cookers, woodburning and gas stoves, homewares, cookware, lighting, and ironmongery – across seven rooms and three floors.
The space itself offers neutral tones and warm wood finishes to create a calming backdrop, while curated fixtures and vintage-style lighting add texture and character.
In other areas, thoughtfully styled displays bring together cookware, home accessories and lighting, set alongside dedicated zones for stoves and heating solutions – reflecting the showroom’s roots while marking its shift toward a more comprehensive lifestyle offering.
Beyond the layout of the showroom space, the business also promises a lively calendar of events, with plans to host chef demonstrations, product showcases, and networking opportunities for the design trade.
In repositioning itself for a bright future, Diss Ironworks demonstrates how independent retailers can evolve their showroom environments to meet changing customer expectations.
By blending interactive displays with thoughtful design and space for collaboration, it offers a fresh perspective on what a modern kitchen showroom can be.
