EXCLUSIVE: Sycamore to target outdoor kitchen market

Speaking exclusively to kbbreview, SycamoreLED sales director Jane Hensey said the brand is making a targeted effort to expand into outdoor lighting to take advantage of the growth in the UK outdoor kitchen market.

Discussing the decision at this year’s kbb Show, Hensey said: “It’s a relatively new concept for us, but with the demand for outdoor kitchen spaces growing, we think creating lighting specifically for those projects presents a massive opportunity for us.”

Designed to enhance pathways, patios, courtyards and exterior walls, Sycamore says its outdoor LED strip lighting can already be seamlessly integrated into virtually any garden feature, under seating, within planters and to highlight architectural elements.

As part of the expansion, Hensey said Sycamore is also looking to partner with outdoor kitchen brands to help form a targeted push out into the market. She continued: “There’s a real plan we’ve got to go out to the outdoor kitchen companies – we can look at putting flexible lighting strips around outdoor kitchens or path lighting, and hopefully that will grow business for both of us.”

Asked about her strategy behind the product category expansion, Hensey said: “We see outdoor lighting as a massive opportunity, and I don’t think people are really looking at it. It’s a big thing for us because, of course, it’s a competitive market, so we wanted to find something that would help differentiate us, and to become more known for.”
