Sonas Bathrooms has announced a considerable expansion to its senior leadership team, with several new roles introduced to support the company’s rapid growth in the UK market.

Dave Laretta has been appointed as the company’s strategic growth director in the UK, where he will work closely with UK sales director Dean Stokes, along with Sonas’ team of UK area sales managers.

In addition, Gavin McGarry has been promoted from quality and compliance manager to the role of technical director, with IT manager Usman Mughal also being promoted to IT director.

These appointments follow the company’s expansion into the UK market back in 2023. Over the last several years, Sonas said its business has “continued to perform exceptionally well”, with Sonas also recently announcing plans to open a new UK distribution centre to enable nationwide distribution.

Sonas says Laretta’s appointment to the senior team will add commercial capacity where required across both the specification and RMI (repair, maintenance and improvements) channels, with the role designed to complement and build on the foundation already established by its UK sales team.

Laretta brings more than a decade of experience in the bathroom industry, with the company saying his knowledge and perspective will be a valuable addition as it continues to grow its UK business.

“I’m delighted to be joining Sonas Bathrooms at such an exciting stage in the company’s growth within the UK market,” Laretta commented. “With the opening of the new distribution centre approaching, I’m looking forward to supporting the wider UK team and working closely with customers as the business enters its next phase of growth.”

New technical director Gavin McGarry has also been with the company for 10 years, with Sonas saying he has become an integral part of its operations, ensuring the products manufactured adhere to strict industry standards. Prior to his time at the business, McGarry spent over 15 years working as an installer, and as a result, Sonas says he has both a technical understanding of the products as well as a deep understanding of its key customer base.

Sonas has promised that his technical insight will guide how it designs, manufactures, tests, certifies, and maintains its product ranges, supporting Sonas’ continued growth.

“I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Technical Director at SONAS. It’s been incredible to grow alongside the business over the last ten years, as it evolved from a bathroom supplier into a leading bathroom manufacturer,” McGarry commented.

“I’m looking forward to supporting SONAS to maintain and further develop its reputation for high quality bathrooms products that are favoured by installers. With our continued expansion into the UK market, ensuring that installers are supported at every stage is really important.”

Finally, new IT director Usman Mughal began his time at Sonas in a sales and administrative role, before becoming system engineer, and later the company’s IT manager. In his new role, Mughal will be responsible for the overall IT strategy, governance and continued development of Sonas’ technology infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with the company’s expansion goals and broader objectives.

“After ten years with SONAS, I’m delighted to have been promoted to IT director,” Usman added. “I look forward to supporting the business with its growth ambitions by further strengthening our IT function, ensuring that we can support customers, specifiers, retail partners and installers alike.”

Discussing the new appointments, Sonas Bathrooms’ CEO Richard Sloan said the company’s success so far has been in large part due to the team it has built.

“Two examples of the quality of our team and how this enables our growth are Gavin and Usman, who bring expertise and unique insights to their respective areas of the business,” he continued. “I’m delighted to welcome them to the leadership team and I’m confident we’ll see the impact of their new roles in no time. Hiring Dave allows us to further expand into the UK with our best foot forward, supported by the foundation of our business in Ireland.”

In addition to the expansion of its senior leadership team, Sonas also said that at least 20% of its staff have now been with the company for 10 continuous years or more, saying this reflects its commitment to building a knowledgeable and experienced workforce, and rewarding colleagues for their contributions.
