Quooker launches new Walking Technician service in London

Quooker’s new service will see technicians using public transport instead of company vehicles to provide assistance to customers

Boiling water tap specialist Quooker UK has launched its new time-saving Walking Technician scheme in London, with plans to eventually roll out the scheme to every major city in the UK

Launching first in the UK’s capital city, the service aims to provide Quooker customers with “rapid on the spot assistance”, where a technician will travel to a customer’s home on foot to carry out basic servicing and part repairs.

Significantly, this will be completed by utilising public transport to navigate around cities, which Quooker says will help its technicians reach customers more quickly, and more eco-efficiently.

Following the launch in London, Quooker says it aims to expand the service to all major cities in the country, ensuring its customers up and down the UK can benefit from the solution.

Designed to enhance local customer service, Quooker says the launch of the new service will significantly help to reduce the company’s carbon emissions in areas which typically have high traffic levels.

According to the company, this new initiative will also free up more engineers to reach remote areas. This, in turn,  will allow Quooker to service more customers across the country.

Quooker says that walking technicians will be thoroughly trained and carry all the tools necessary to troubleshoot issues, perform necessary maintenance, and offer expert advice. Specifically, technicians will be able to perform functions such as dismantling hot tanks for inspection or debris removal, replacing internal features such as HITAC filters and tank gaskets and updating CUBE software to the latest version.

According to Quooker, the standard service charge is £200, and for customers that require an additional call-out beyond the basic service provided by its Walking Technicians, there will be no additional charge.

Stephen Johnson, managing director at Quooker UK & Ireland, commented: “At Quooker, our customer service remains exemplary. With ambitious plans in this area, we have more engineers on the road than ever before and have invested heavily in training and apprenticeships to ensure this goal of growth is sustainable.

“We understand that our customers lead busy lives, and the last thing they need is to wait for service appointments. We want to provide customer service that is a very much like our boiling water taps, instant. For city centres, such as London, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to navigate the streets, with increased restrictions and traffic demands.

“The introduction of our Walking Technician service allows our customer service team to reach more customers quickly via public transport or on foot. It has been designed to bring our expertise directly to our customers, making it easier than ever to enjoy the benefits of a Quooker tap.”

In related news, Johnson also recently revealed plans to complete a “world record-breaking” fundraising challenge later this year, that will see him walk nearly 2,000 km across a 31 day period.
