Suppliers move to reassure retailers after Waterline administration

Key suppliers have reassured retailers of continued product availability and support following the collapse of long-standing distributor Waterline into administration.

The company’s closure has left many retailers concerned about supply continuity and outstanding orders as they scramble to find alternatives to complete projects.

Franke UK says it has put systems in place to ensure its sink, tap and appliance ranges remain available across the UK. The manufacturer confirmed that its two Franke-owned distributors – Sinks & Things in England and Wales, and Forth & Clyde in Scotland – are handling all mainland orders, with Bodel and Gowan Home continuing as usual in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Craig McIntyre (pictured), managing director of Franke UK, said: “This is sad news indeed for the industry. Waterline has been a valued distribution partner to Franke for over four decades and we are entirely sympathetic to their business challenge and its unfortunate impact on their employees.

“We have systems in place and are working very hard to ensure customers can transition quickly and smoothly to our two direct distribution businesses to fulfil urgent requirements and provide long-term reliable supply of product.”

Franke says urgent orders will be processed immediately on a pro forma basis via a secure payment link, without having to wait for an account to be set up. Orders can be emailed direct to [email protected] or by calling 0161 436 6280.

Customers can also apply to open a new account by emailing the same address or calling the same number. New account applications are being
processed by the Franke customer service team and area sales managers.

Lighting specialist Sensio also paid tribute to Waterline and moved to reassure retailers of its continued support.

Michael Linsky, managing director of Sensio Lighting Ltd, said: “We’re saddened to hear that Waterline has entered administration after so many years as a valued distributor within the KBB industry.

“We have had the pleasure of working with them in partnership for over 10 years and would like to thank everyone at Waterline, past and present, for their support and collaboration over the years. We wish all those affected the very best as they look for new opportunities.

“For any retailers who previously sourced Sensio products through Waterline, we’d like to reassure you that Sensio remains ready to support you through our existing distribution partners. Our priority is ensuring continuity of supply, service, and support for all our customers.”

InSinkErator has also expressed its sadness at the news and moved quickly to reassure retailers of supply continuity.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We’re sad to hear that Waterline, our distribution partner for over 30 years, will be closing their doors. Our thoughts are with our friends and all the staff affected by this change. At InSinkErator, continuity of supply is absolutely critical, and we want to reassure our retail partners that we’re here to support them. With a supply network of alternative distribution options and stock readily available from InSinkErator, retailers can continue to access the products they need.”

If retailers have any questions about InSinkErator products or inventory, they should get in touch with the relevant direct sales contact –  Scotland and the North, Martin Green 07714 714663; Wales and South West, Amber Sheppard 07919 302558; Midlands and East, Amanda Walker 07833 437235; South East Phill Quantrell 07557 499426.

Dominic Worsley, group managing director, at Aga Rangemaster also said the demise of Waterline was “sad indeed” saying “we really do commiserate with the team at this challenging time. At AGA Rangemaster we will support in any way we can. In the immediate aftermath, we have collaborated directly with Waterline to contact and supply any customers who had outstanding orders.

“For the longer term we are directing customers to Häfele who are able to supply a full range of Rangemaster cookers. Should any customers have any queries, or need advice, please contact us directly at [email protected].”

BSH has said that any Waterline customers seeking further information should contact the company directly on [email protected].

And a Samsung spokesperson said: “We are extremely sad to hear the news around one of the most respected industry stalwarts and one of our long-standing partners, Waterline Distribution.

“As a business we are committed to the kitchen industry and keen to support your business large or small through this transition. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Samsung representative or our distribution partner Häfele Distribution if you need any help or guidance around customer enquiries and orders.”
