Alno retailer enters administration

German retailer Alno Küchenwelten Reimers has entered administration after suffering “economic difficulties” in the aftermath of the Alno AG insolvency.

The retailer, which has three showrooms in Bonn, St Augustin and Bergisch Gladbach, claimed that supply difficulties with Alno AG led to a liquidity problem.

Production has now resumed.

As a precaution, managing director Uwe Reimers filed for self-administration with the District Court of Bonn on July 28, which was approved, with the aim of becoming independent from Alno AG.

“The aim of the procedure is to continue the company permanently with the existing shareholder,” he explained. “That is why our customers continue to receive the kitchens ordered so far. But even during the process, our customers can order new kitchens, which are also delivered in a timely manner.”

Reimers confirmed that business would remain “unchanged” by the proceedings.

Alno Küchenwelten Reimers is not part of the Alno AG group but uses its brand and only sells Alno kitchens.

Reimers will use the administration to restructure the business under insolvency protection, with the management carrying out the process independently.

“With the possibilities of the process, we will significantly improve the liquidity situation and thus implement the essential restructuring approach,” he added. “Above all, customers will be able to choose from a significantly expanded range of products in the future.”
