Craven Dunnill Group appoints new MD

British tile distributor and manufacturer Craven Dunnill has announced the appointment of Simon Howells (pictured) as its new managing director.

The fifth generation of the Howells family to be involved in the business, he steps up to the role from his previous position as commercial director.

Speaking of his appointment, Howells said: “I am immensely proud of the long and successful heritage of this business and am passionately committed to delivering the next stage of its growth.”

He succeeds Peter Howells who is now chairman of the Craven Dunnill Group, which includes the tile manufacturer Craven Dunnill Jackfield, the distributor Craven Dunnill and Co and commercial specification supplier Craven Dunnill Project Ceramics.

New warehouse expands capacity by 60%

Meanwhile, as part of its long-term growth strategy, the brand has also invested in a new, purpose-built warehouse that expands its stockholding capacity by 60% at its Bridgnorth HQ.

According to Craven Dunnill, the new warehouse streamlines product handling and will enable the continued increase in stocked product lines and improved efficiencies for the benefit of its customers.

Commenting on the investment, Simon Howells said: “The group’s business is enjoying continued growth. As a business that prides itself on award-winning customer service, this instalment ensures we will continue to offer the finest choice of tiles in the marketplace and our product will reach our customers efficiently and in the manner that best meets their requirements”.

The next stage of development for the group is the expansion of its merchandise and sampling service, which is due to be completed later in 2019, and an upgrade to the showroom at its Bridgnorth site.
