DIY Kitchens to open Scotland’s ‘largest showroom’

National-scale online retailer DIY Kitchens is set to open the doors to its first Scottish showroom this weekend, claiming it to be the largest kitchen showroom in all of Scotland.

Located in Livingston and set to open on October 31, the kitchen retailer has not specified exactly how big the large new showroom is. However, commercial property consultants Burns & Shaw have previously listed the total property site as measuring 31,578 sq ft.

DIY Kitchens says the new showroom will house over 50 individual kitchen displays across a variety of styles and colours.

The new Scottish store will join the retailer’s existing two showrooms located in Oxford and West Yorkshire, which DIY Kitchens has previously said “are the largest kitchen showrooms in the UK”.

The online retailer currently uses its showrooms as display spaces only, imploring customers to visit to view its offering despite not offering a design service within the showrooms themselves. Customers must instead design and order their kitchens online, however the retailer has said that its on-site showroom staff are still able to answer technical questions.

The opening of the new Scotland showroom marks the retailer’s first since it was acquired by trade kitchen giant Howdens earlier this year. Howdens bought the online retailer in a deal worth nearly £400m, calling DIY Kitchens a “highly profitable and growing enterprise” with a business model that is very different to its own trade-only model.
