The kitchen industry’s most influential trade exhibition, EuroCucina, has taken place as part of the 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile fair in Milan this month, after a four-year delay brought about by the Covid pandemic.

The biennial event was originally scheduled to take place alongside the Salone del Mobile fair on April 21-26, 2020, but was postponed because of the escalating coronavirus emergency.

According to official figures, the Salone del Mobile fair – which was held on June 7-12 in Milan – welcomed 262,608 visitors, from 173 countries, across the six days.

Despite a drop in visitors of around 40% from 2018’s figure of 434,509, organisers declared the event a “huge success” and said it confirmed the importance and international scope of the event. The lower numbers were blamed on fewer Chinese and Russian visitors and global travel disruption post-Covid.

Exhibitors that took part in this year’s EuroCucina included AEG, Aran Cucine, Beko, Bertazzoni, BSH, Häcker, Nobilia, Nolte, Porcelanosa, Samsung, Scavolini, Schock, Schüller/Next125 and Smeg.

Speaking about this year’s show, Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile Milano fair, said: “This edition has confirmed the international scope of the event and the cohesion of the design community. An important result that confirms the state of health and the value content of the Salone del Mobile, and it shows how teamwork across a whole sector and its creative and productive fabric can produce excellence, achieving great results even in the most complex moments. The ICE’s contribution has been precious and essential in its support in opening up new markets, with digital offerings that, this week as in previous months, have enabled us to get in touch with new countries
