GDHA boss celebrates 20 years

Glen Dimplex Home Appliances (GDHA) chief executive Denver Hewlett has celebrated 20 years with the business.

Hewlett (pictured) began his career with Belling, joining the company in 1996 as marketing director.

During his 20 years, said GDHA, he has overseen the launch of some of the company’s most successful and innovative products.

In 2001, he worked closely with parent company Glen Dimplex on the acquisition of appliance brands Stoves and New World, which was closely followed by Lec refrigeration in 2005. The result was the formation of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances.

GDHA has become known as a champion of manufacturing in the UK. Hewlett led a reshoring movement for GDHA in 2009, which it claims has made it the last remaining UK manufacturer of cooking appliances across all categories.

He has also driven GDHA’s export business and the company now exports worldwide and was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2012.

“The past 20 years have seen huge change and upheaval in the industry, but I feel very fortunate to be part of such a dynamic marketplace,” said Hewlett. “In my role at GDHA, I am the custodian of brands with rich histories and a very loyal following. We have some exciting launches coming up, so I look forward to what is around the corner.”
