Häcker pledges to continue production to maintain supply

German kitchen furniture maker Häcker has announced that it is keeping production lines open despite the coronavirus pandemic.

It said it is confident it can reliably supply its customers with kitchens.

Markus Sander, managing director for sales, marketing and controlling at Häcker, said: “We continue to produce, of course with compliance to strict safety and hygiene measures.”

The company said that it had used the past week to develop “extraordinary solutions”, having significantly increased inventory and optimised its logistics chain.

Häcker also pointed out that its Rödinghausen plant benefited from a high degree of automation to facilitate fast delivery.

So as to further improve safety for its workers, it has also introduced new shift patterns and set up disinfectant centres for staff to use. As an added precaution, the staff canteen was closed.

It has also set up 520 home-office workstations for staff who can work remotely.

Häcker said that as a result of these measures, it will keep supplying kitchens for “as long as it is allowed” and added that the health of customers and employees is still its top priority.
