Ideal Bathrooms opens new warehouse to meet increased demand in the North

Bathroom distributor Ideal Bathrooms has opened a new 45,000sq ft warehouse in Wakefield to keep pace with increased demand in the North.

The new warehouse, which is 18,000sq ft larger than its previous site, will not only help it keep up with rising demand from its customers in the North of the country, but will also allow it to honour its next-day delivery pledge on a wider range of items.

Commenting on the move, Ideal Bathrooms operations director Kim Kirby-Earnshaw said: “As the business continues to develop, and the demand for stock availability in the Northern depots continues to increase, there is a requirement for more space. The improved capacity gives us the means to support our customers further.

“The new 45,000sq ft single-site warehouse gives us an additional 18,000sq ft of much-needed capacity, which will strengthen our position with the customers serviced from this site.”

The new building features LED lighting throughout, which it said will improve the working environment throughout and significantly reduce energy consumption.

Kirby-Earnshaw added: “The new site signals our continued commitment to our customers in the North. We’ve also taken a stock injection of over £1 million, taking our holding in Wakefield to more than £3.5m, which means we can support both our suppliers and customers with next-day delivery to 99% of our delivery territories.

“With such disruption over the past year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Ideal Bathrooms is delighted to be in a position to invest so significantly and continue to offer a first-class service to our clients.”
