The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of York were among those who attended a cookery event staged by Kutchenhaus York showroom.

The showroom event in early April was the retailer’s first ever live cooking event with appliance partner AEG.

The store, situated on the Foss Islands Retail Park in York, hosted cookery demonstrations and food tastings with chef and product expert Richard Allen.

Those who attended were able to watch demonstrations to gain a better understanding of how today’s appliances can improve their cooking for the better. Appliances on demonstration included a steam oven and induction hob.

As well as canapes and champagne, attended were also able to enter a raffle to win a collection of AEG products.

Kirk Edmondson, showroom manager for Kutchenhaus York, said: “We were pleased to host our first event of this kind, giving us a chance to chat to customers and to see Richard in action. It’s great to do something different with our space and for more people to discover us.

“We’re already planning our next event, for those who missed the chance to attend in April. This will take place on Thursday, July 6, where the showroom will again showcase live cooking, talks, food and drinks.”

The Lord Mayor, councillor David Carr, added: “We were lucky enough to get involved with the live cooking on the day and to pick up some skills from Richard. It was a perfect opportunity to meet members of the team and to learn more about the flagship Kutchenhaus showroom in York, a fantastic space showcasing the latest kitchens and appliances.”

The York showroom is Kutchenhaus’s flagship showroom and opened in 2008. It features more than 30 full kitchen displays.
