Merlyn shows support for breast cancer charity

Shower enclosure and accessories supplier, Merlyn, has continued its long-standing support of breast cancer charity Pink Ribbon Foundation with a designated display on its stand at kbb Birmingham.

The foundation – a grant-making trust that supports registered charities working in the area of breast cancer – has taken over one of Merlyn’s shower enclosures by painting a striking image of breasts on the glass.

Lisa Allen, head of corporate partnerships, events and PR at the Pink Ribbon Foundation was available on the Merlyn stand to discuss the importance of creating the optimum setting for some all-important self-care and checking the body for signs of change. “The partnership is valuable because it raises awareness about breast cancer,” she said. “It’s sad that 55,000 women in the UK each year are told they have breast cancer and 370 men, too. A lot of men do not know that they can get it. Basically, if you’ve got a chest, you can get breast cancer.”

When asked by kbbreview about the idea of painting breasts on the side of a shower, Allen said: “One of the best places to check for signs and lumps is the shower where you have soapy hands. The partnership is brilliant because not only are we raising awareness, but by having boobs on the side of the shower, we’ve made a lot of people stop and take note. It gives us an opportunity to talk to people about their own health.

“There also the £25 donation for every time a Merlyn Arysto X shower enclosure is sold,” Allen added. “For us as a foundation, especially off the back of Covid and with fund-raising events that have stopped, we’ve had to get very creative with ways of raising money.”

Merlyn was showcasing its latest range of products on an immersive and multi-sensory stand, designed by Jo Love from Love Interiors. Speaking about the return of kbb Birmingham, Eileen Slattery, marketing manager for Merlyn, said: “We were delighted to return to face-to-face events – meeting customers, partners and even colleagues for the first time in two years. The multi- sensory stand was the perfect backdrop to showcase our new products and present the on-trend Arysto Colour collection alongside innovations such as the Revo rail, designed to flex with the demands of multigenerational living spaces.”
