Quooker in cycle marathon to raise £5,000 for Parkinson’s charity

Hot tap specialist Quooker is organising a spinning marathon this weekend, (Saturday, February 19), to raise funds for the Parkinson NL charity.

Quooker’s goal is to raise £5,000 for the charity, which aims to push back frontiers in the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease.

The charity says: “The focus is on slowing down and preferably preventing the disease. Until then we make sure that people with Parkinson’s disease and those around them can lead as good a life as possible. Thorough fund-raising lays the foundation for targeted investments in research, innovations and education.”

Quooker UK MD Stephen Johnson (pictured), as part of his preparation, spoke to two-times Olympic cycling gold medal winner Philip Hindes MBE to get his tips and advice on preparing for the event.

The Quooker MD told Hindes: “Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for people with Parkinson’s disease in four hours. And I am going to do four hours.”

Johnson told the Olympian that he had been out for a practice ride and that his preparations included going to the gym every morning.

Hindes had some useful advice for Johnson, including how to pace himself during the ride and what to think about in terms of pre-event diet.
