Salone up on 2014

Europe’s biggest interiors showcase – Salone Internazionale del Mobile – saw a 4% increase in visitors, topping 372,000 people.

Taking place in Milan, Italy from April 12-16, the 55th Salone was a sell-out with more than 207,000sq m of exhibition space and 2,310 exhibitors – 30% of them from outside of Italy.

More than 41,000 people attended over the Saturday and Sunday when the show was open to the general public.

“With 67% of attendees from abroad, most of them high-profile and with robust spending power, according to comments from exhibitors, this edition has yet again confirmed the strong international vocation and importance of exports as a crucial segment of the sector today,” said Roberto Snaidero, president of the Salone del Mobile Milano.

Last year saw revenue worth €221 million (£176m) generated and the show organiser said the event had “evolved over time from a simple trade fair into a “must-see” event”.
